Winter Closing Policy

If I could accurately predict our weather, I’d be rich.   We look at a few sources of information to determine if we should be open or closed and try to be open vs closed when possible.   We ask volunteers to make decisions based on what they know they can tolerate, what the driving/walking conditions are at home and to dress warm and take warm up breaks as needed if they come in.

We may close IF:

• Snow or ice are predicted during our open hours that would make it unsafe to be outside
• The ‘feels like’ temperature is predicted to be in single digits during our open hours
• If it snowed more than an inch or so in the last 24 hours as we might not have the site cleared yet
